The two game losing streak is over for the San Antonio Spurs, as they took down the Houston Rockets 121-110 in their first NBA Cup game of the season.
The Spurs first win in Pool C of the competition was fueled by big nights from Harrison Barnes, Julian Champagnie, and Victor Wembanyama, who combined for 68 points.
Barnes had 24 points on 8-for-11 shooting, going 6-for-10 from three point range. Champagnie added 22 points, including six three-pointers, and five steals. Wembanyama tallied 22 points, 8 rebounds, and two blocks.
Wemby also had what might have been the highlight of the night.
It was a bit of a sloppy game, with both teams combining for 33 turnovers. Alperen Sengun led the Rockets with 25 points, while Kevin Durant scored another 24 points.
Wembanyama also came up clutch down the stretch.
Stephon Castle also added 13 assists in the win.
The win is the first in the NBA Cup for the Spurs this year, and improves their record to 6-2. It will be a quick back-to-back turnaround though, as the Spurs will host the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.
