Mauna Loa, the world's largest active volcano, erupted Monday on Hawaii's Big Island. The eruption sent ash and volcanic gas into the air, and could leave up to a quarter inch of ashfall on parts of the island. So far, lava flows have been contained to the summit area - but officials warn that "can change rapidly". Mauna Loa is one of the most active volcanos on the planet, with 33 eruptions recorded since 1843. The region has seen a rise in seismic activity since June. Would you ever live near a volcano, even if it was inactive?
