Nothing can ruin a dinner with friends faster than bringing up religion or politics. I guess it works if everyone has the EXACT SAME beliefs. But what are the odds? Even Shania Twain knows it's a bad idea.
She was on the "Table Manners" podcast, and they asked her to share a dinner story. She said, quote, "One of my most memorable was with Oprah Winfrey.
"It was great to sit and talk, but as soon as we started talking religion, it all went sour. I said, 'Let's stop talking about religion'. She's quite religious.
"[You] know how everyone always says, 'Never talk about politics or religion.' It just wasn't debatable. There was no room for debate, and I like to debate. Canadians like to debate about everything. So I changed the subject."
Shania says she's very spiritual, and calls herself "a seeker," but she is not dedicated to any one religion.
