Choosing Our Words for 2026

The Bobby Bones Show took part in a familiar tradition: choosing a word of the year. Not a resolution, not a checklist, just one word meant to guide decisions, habits, and perspective for the next twelve months.

The conversation begins with Amy, whose past words set the tone for how seriously she approaches the exercise. In previous years, her words included alignment and water: symbols of intention, flexibility, and balance. When asked if 2025 lived up to “alignment,” she confidently says yes, though she admits the “water” year may have fallen short… especially given her current state of dehydration. This time, however, her word is simple and decisive. Less. Not less in a negative or restrictive sense, but less as a way to make room for more of what matters. Less stuff and more experiences. Less texting and more shared meals. Less wanting and more contentment. Less screen time, less oversharing, and less talking about ideas before they’re fully formed, replaced instead with building quietly and sharing only when something truly comes to fruition. For her, “less” is about intention. About choosing silence over noise, depth over quantity, and presence over performance.

From there, the focus shifts to Eddie, who reflects honestly on last year’s word: slow. While the intention was to live and speak at a calmer pace, he admits it didn’t quite stick. Talking fast is still part of who he is. This year, he’s changing tactics with a word that feels more grounded and actionable. Serious. Not in a humorless way, but serious about follow-through. Serious about meaning what he says and saying only what he intends to do. The goal is to be more thoughtful with commitments and more deliberate with actions.

Lunchbox follows, reflecting on his previous word, moving, which represented business growth and making bold attempts. While not every effort worked out, he’s quick to point out that trying still counts. Auditions were attempted. Opportunities were pursued. Doors were knocked on, even if they didn’t all open. Choosing a word for 2026 proves more difficult. After tossing around ideas like “grab” and “opportunity” (and enduring some playful pushback), he ultimately lands on something more grounded and personal: Healthy. The word represents more than just physical wellness. It’s about returning to routines he loves, feeling normal again, and supporting overall well-being: mentally, emotionally, and socially. In many ways, health becomes the foundation that allows everything else to work.

Finally, Bobby reflects on his own past word, DGAF, which was meant to loosen rigidity and invite more creativity. While he gives himself a modest score for execution, he’s ready to move forward with a new focus. Positive. For him, this word is about mindset. About resisting the pull toward worst-case scenarios and choosing to believe that things can work out, even before they do. It’s an effort to reduce unnecessary stress and recognize that many outcomes turn out better than expected.

Different words. Different motivations. One shared hope: that 2026 will be approached with a little more intention than the year before.
