Randy Travis shared a heartfelt moment with Carrie Underwood at the star-studded Opry 100: A Live Celebration event on Wednesday evening (March 19) in Nashville, Tennessee. The show is part of the Opry’s celebrations in honor of its centennial milestone in 2025.
Travis shared a clip of the “moment (that) left us all in tears,” when Underwood paid tribute to him with a rendition of “Forever and Ever, Amen.” Travis released the timeless country classic in the 1980s, and it remains one of his most beloved hits throughout his decades-long career. The tribute on Wednesday evening also marked a full circle moment between the two country stars, as Travis surprised Underwood with her invitation to become a member of the Opry in 2008.
“What a night at the [Opry]!” Travis’ caption on Instagram reads. “Randy and [Carrie Underwood] brought us all to tears by sharing this beautiful moment together. It still feels like yesterday when Randy invited Carrie to become the newest Opry member! There’s truly no better way to celebrate 100 years at the Home of Country Music.”
Underwood was one of many artists to take the stage throughout the evening, along with Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Blake Shelton (who also hosted the show), and many more.
