Luke Grimes has always found meaning in music, and now, the Yellowstone star is sharing his first song from his forthcoming debut album, “No Horse To Ride.” Grimes, known for his role as Kayce Dutton on the smash-hit Paramount+ drama, said on Friday (December `6) that he hopes “this song means something to some folks out there, that would sure mean a lot to me. Much love, more soon…”
“I think of music as sort of a first love; it was my first creative outlet,” Grimes said in a statement via his record label. “To be at the start of this journey, putting my own music out into the world, is beyond a dream come true. I’m grateful to the people who helped make this happen and to anyone who connects with these songs, I will do my best to keep them honest.”
The Ohio-born actor grew up playing music in church, inspired by Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson, among other artists. He later became a drummer and songwriter for a Los Angeles, California-based country band, according to information from his record label. Grimes remained passionate about music while launching his acting career, also appearing in American Sniper, The Magnificent Seven and other movies.
“As an actor, Luke Grimes has effortlessly brought the cowboy lifestyle to the forefront of American culture,” Universal Music Group Nashville President Cindy Mabe said in a statement. “As a country music artist, Luke has tapped into that same honesty and authenticity to capture a raw grit and pure depth of artistry that will expand the sound and reach of country music.”
Grimes wrote “No Horse To Ride” with Jonathan Singleton and Tony Lane, and has teamed up with other Music Row songwriting giants in recent months (including Randy Montana, Brent Cobb, Jamey Johnson, Love Junkies, Josh Osborne, Jon Randall, and Jessie Alexander, as well as producer and songwriter Dave Cobb).
