Via Metro Transit said today that the bus driver who blew through a red light on the south side this morning and rammed his bus into three cars has been relieved of duty pending an investigation of the incident, 1200 WOAI news reports.
Police say the bus driver ran a red light at Southwest Military and Pleasanton Road about 1AM today. The bus was then hit by an oncoming car and then the bus slammed into two more cars...slamming them up against a light pole.
Seven people were injured.
Via spokeswoman Priscilla Ingle says the bus line is 'doing its due diligence.'
"We are working with SAPD regarding the investigation," she said. "Via will take all the necessary action regarding all aspects of bus operations relative to the accident."
