SAC MULTICULTURAL CONFERENCE | SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE | TIMES VARY

SAC celebrates our 23rd annual Multicultural Conference, bringing together writers, artists, musicians, scholars, and professionals together to illuminate multicultural issues within education and society. This year’s theme, “25 Years of Education as Revolution” includes student and community activities showcasing various cultural, artistic, and academic forums, which may challenge contemporary or traditional points of view.

CHILDREN’S TEXAS HISTORY FORUM | CASA NAVARRO HISTORIC SITE | 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

The Children’s Texas History Forum is an annual event held during Fiesta San Antonio. This year, events will be held at Casa Navarro, the home of Jose Antonio Navarro, the truest of Texans. Born in San Antonio, Navarro was a statesman, revolutionary, politician, rancher, and merchant. Students are taken back in time by reenactors and hostesses dressed in period clothing. Presentations of flags flown throughout San Antonio and Texas history are presented in a way that is education and entertaining.

FIESTA ESPECIAL® CELEBRATION DAY |ALAMODOME, PARKING LOT C | 10 AM – 3 PM

Fiesta Especial® Celebration Day, is a one-day community-based education program and carnival experience for children and adults with disabilities to participate in along with their schools, programs and families. Participation in this event is FREE. Advance registration is REQUIRED and no general admission will be allowed at the entrance gate. Advanced registration is REQUIRED.

BLAST FROM FIESTA PAST | WITTE MUSEUM | 10AM – 5PM

It was the spring of 1969 and San Antonio’s Fiesta celebration captured the spirit of the day. Fiesta gowns from the Order of the Alamo’s Court of Time and Space will have you reaching for the stars with designs inspired by the science and technology that helped the United States put a man on the moon in July of that year. Visitors are invited to separate science fact from science fiction with fiesta gowns and costumes inspired by comic books, film and art. From the Queen of Soul to El Rey Feo, 1969 was also a time when Fiesta royal traditions began to evolve to reflect the atmosphere of the civil rights movement and embrace the beauty and diversity of San Antonio. Learn how Fiesta royalty in 1969 helped pave the way for fiesta royalty today.

FIESTA® DE LOS REYES AT MARKET SQUARE | 4PM-MIDNIGHT

Combine Rey Feo–a cherished Fiesta icon, with Market Square–a historic center in the heart of the city, and San Antonio gets 10 days of free, quality entertainment! This is one of the largest FREE Fiesta celebrations and has something in store for the entire family! Experience daily live entertainment from multiple stages featuring a variety of music, from the best in Tejano. Cumbia, and Conjunto to rocking cover bands! Enjoy Fiesta staples such as funnel cakes, agua fresca, turkey legs, fajitas and much, much more. Your taste buds will have a Fiesta as you enjoy food from over 30 delicious food booths.

11 AM – 1 PM | ARMY DAY AT THE ALAMO | ALAMO PLAZA

This event highlights the 174th year presence of the United States Army and its forces in San Antonio. Featuring performances by the U.S. Army Soldiers, 323D U.S. Army Band “Fort Sam’s Own” and the Army Fife and Drum Drill Team. Enjoy patriotic music performed by some of the Army’s finest musicians.

MISS MARGARET’S VICTORIAN HOUSE TOUR | MARGARET GETHING HOUSE | 1 – 4 PM

Enjoy a tour of the unique Miss Margaret’s Victorian House. This home was open for tours during Fiesta® in the 1940s and the tradition continues today. This is an antique lover’s delight–a trip back in time to the gracious life in old San Antonio.

The late Margaret Allan Gething was an early conservationist and advocate for the preservation of the King William historic district in the 1940s.

FIESTA® TECH TREK | SAN ANTONIO’S DOWNTOWN TECH DISTRICT | 5 – 8 PM

What do you get when you mix the excitement of Fiesta and thousands of college students, tech professionals, investors, business owners, and entrepreneurs who are interested in our city’s growing tech industry? Find out at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd Annual Tech Trek! Over the course of the evening, trekkers will visit participating tech companies, enjoy food and beverages, and get an inside look into San Antonio’s downtown Tech District and our emerging tech scene. The Tech Trek is a celebration of entrepreneurship, technology, and most of all, Fiesta!

NIOSA® (A NIGHT IN OLD SAN ANTONIO®) | LA VILLITA | 5:30 – 10:30 PM

“A Night in Old San Antonio®” is a four-night festival in the heart of historic downtown San Antonio that celebrates the city’s diverse culture through the magic of 200-plus food and drink booths; 14 continuous live musical acts and bright and festive decorations in 15 themed areas: Mission Trail, Arneson Theatre, China Town, Clown Alley, French Quarter, Froggy Bottom, Frontier Town, Haymarket, International Walkway, Irish Flats, Main Street USA, Mexican Market, Sauerkraut Bend, South of the Border, and Villa Espana. Admission for adults is $12 advance and $15 at the gate; children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.

FIESTA® CORNYATION | CHARLENE MCCOMBS EMPIRE THEATER | 7 PM

Cornyation is an adult-oriented satirical and theatrical review of current local, state, national and international events.

Fiesta Cornyation is a permanently committed non-profit charitable organization with the purpose of enriching the lives of people in San Antonio with HIV or affected by HIV. Since it became a non-profit corporation Cornyation has donated over $2 million back to the community. Cornyation has also established an annual scholarship for up to four students, which grants college scholarships to San Antonio student majoring in the arts.

FIESTA® IN BLUE | EDGEWOOD THEATRE | 7 PM

Stationed at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, the Band of the West has presented its annual Fiesta in blue concert since 1985. Since it was formed in 1947, the USAF Band of the West has performed for presidents, heads of state, and dignitaries from around the world, earning an outstanding reputation among America’s military bands. The United States Air Force Band of the West travels more than 125,000 miles annually and provides more than 300 performances to audiences throughout a seven-state region and Puerto Rico. We proudly represent “Military City, U.S.A.,” and look forward to doing so now and into the future. Viva Fiesta!

FORD MARIACHI FESTIVAL | THE RIVER WALK, THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN | 7:30 – 9:30 PM

For three nights, local middle and high school Mariachi students perform while on boats, entertaining visitors on the River Walk. The festival provides student musicians an opportunity to gain experience entertaining large crowds and also boosts the festive atmosphere for Fiesta revelers.

The San Antonio River Walk Association is a nonprofit membership-based organization dedicated to promote, protect, and preserve the San Antonio River Walk.

Admission to the Ford Mariachi Festival is free.

FIESTA CARNIVAL | ALAMODOME | 6PM-11PM

Thrills and chills fill the air at one of the best carnivals in the land. Glittering lights, exciting rides and a wide assortment of foods in the heart of San Antonio make the Carnival a perennial favorite of Fiesta®-goers. Revenue from this event helps support the activities of Fiesta® San Antonio
