Haitians who live in Bexar County are trying to do what they can for their countrymen who are caught up in the border crisis. They say Haitians try to come to the U.S. because the Caribbean nation is suffering from political problems, a lack of job opportunities, and natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes. Many in the local Haitian community volunteer with local organizations that help migrants who pass through Bexar County on their way to their sponsor families.
