Brantley Gilbert Sings About 'Hope and Healing' on New Song 'Hard Days'

Brantley Gilbert has returned with a brand new song called "Hard Days," and as he explained on social media, "this song is about hope and healing. The world could use a little bit of both right about now."

"Hard Days," written by Logan Wall, Jimi Bell, Brock Berryhill and Jay Brunswick, and packs an uplifting message about facing and overcoming difficult times. He sings in the chorus, "If you never had hard days/ If you never had a heartbreak/ Never had more than you can take/ Or carried the weight/ Of life on your shoulders/ Would you feel like you earned it?/ Would you live with a purpose?/ Or ever known your own strength/ If you never had hard days?"

Gilbert exclusively explained to iHeartRadio of how the song came to be:

"To me, 'Hard Days' is a song about taking the good with the bad, and being able to appreciate the bad in life that leads to the good. It's a song about finding, or just acknowledging hope. It's a song that I'm honored to be a part of, and of course I have my own stories that relate to the song, but anytime I'm asked, I have to share how the song really came into the room, and it's something just blows my mind every time I tell the story all over again. There was a write, I was not part of the initial write, I wasn't in the room when the song first began, and I'd give anything to have been, but Logan Wall, one of the writers on the song — I'm honored to be a part of it with Jimi Bell, Logan Wall, Brock Berryhill and Jay Brunswick. And the night before the write, Logan got a call from his mom. She let him know that she was having a medical procedure done involving something cancer-related. And, of course it's his mom, it floored him absolutely, but he held on to the write the next day and went, and they were chasing after a tempo idea, and it wasn't something that was coming really easy, it was something they had to dig for. They just weren't really finding that uptempo, that rocker. And he had the melody for this in the back of his mind, and kind of put it on the table. They were working it a little bit, and Jay actually got a call, and stepped out of the room, and got a call from a family member that another family member had actually passed away. He came back into the room and was like, 'Guys, we gotta write this.' And, long story short, by the time it got to me, it was something that was already amazing. And again, I'm just honored to be part of it. I can't wait to see what it does and how people relate to it.

"Hard Days" follows Brantley's 2019 album Fire & Brimstone, which featured his No. 1 single "What Happens In A Small Town" with Lindsay Ell.
