The battle is on to save the Campbell Memorial Library at Fort Sam Houston, which is set to be closed as part of military budget cuts ordered by the Obama Administration, 1200 WOAI news reports.

The Campbell Library was named in honor of Spec. Keith Campbell, who was killed in Vietnam which saving his fellow soldiers.  He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.

His sister, Judy Campbell, says talk of closing the library is devastating.  She says not only is it her brother's legacy to the Army, but miltiary post libraries are frequently used.

"450 customers use the library each day for mandatory training, on line resources, and print materials that are required for class work," she said.

She says there is nothing 'surplus' about a library on a busy military post like Fort Sam.

"This about his brothers, his brothers past, present, and future," she said.  "We should be providing more for them, not taking things away from them."
