Three people are hospitalized and a fourth is in jail following a wild incident on the city's east side late Tuesday night.

1200 WOAI's Michael Main reports two men and a woman were racing up and down the street in the 5700 block of Sun Canyon, which if off Ackerman Road and Binz-Engleman Road, about 11 last night.

Police say somebody inside the car was firing a gun into the air.

A man who lives in a house along the street apparently decided he had taken just about all he could handle from the rowdy trio, and he grabbed his own gun and started firing into the car.

A man inside the car was shot twice, and the woman suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

After the occupants were shot, the car they were in went out of control and hit a house.

The two wounded people were rushed to the hospital, both are in serious condition.

A little later the third person who was in the car showed up at Northeast Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.

The guy who did the shooting ran away but police caught up with him and he is expected to face aggravated assault charges.
