A veteran CPS Energy lineman died today of injuries he suffered when he fell from a pole during a training exercise three weeks ago, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Hector Castro, Jr, 54, was injured in an exercise at the CPS Energy east substation on October first.

Castro was a 31 year veteran of the utility.

"I had the honor of meeting Hector and his wife earlier this year when he celebrated his 30 year anniversary with CPS Energy," CEO Doyle Beneby said.  "I am deeply saddened to go from celebrating his service to our community to honoring his memory."

CPS Energy says training has been suspended while the accident is under investigation.
