A 22 year old man has been shot and killed after officials say he kidnapped an ex girlfriend from the Bulverde department store where she was working on Black Friday, officials tell 1200 WOAI news.
According to a statement by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, the man walked into the Bealls about one this morning and kidnapped the 19 year old woman at gunpoint.
When Bulverde Police arrived, officers spotted the man and one officer got out of his patrol car and ordered the suspect to surrender. He fired a shot at the officer, then pushed the woman into the patrol car and took off.
The officer wasn’t hurt, but the suspect sped off and led police on a winding fifty mile high speed chase through Comal, Hays, and Caldwell Counties, and through the city of San Marcos
Deputies threw spikes onto the road on Highway 21 near Niederwald, east of Kyle, in northeast Hays County, forcing the man to stop. But he refused to surrender, and began talking about shooting his hostage, deputies say. After about thirty minutes, and after the man pointed his gun at officers, he was shot and killed.
The woman suffered only minor physical injuries, but was said to be very shaken up.
The Texas Rangers are investigating.
